A Winter in Paris

For the cosy season, when it gets colder outside and you cozy up on the sofa. On a rainy day, when the rain is pelting against the window from outside. Then the time is right to pick up a good book, make yourself comfortable and have a reading day. How about an autumn day in Paris?

Winter Journal
The touching balance of a life.

Paul Auster takes stock of his intense life. He reviews love relationships: many at first, and then - for thirty years - the one, great love! He reflects on the children, their growing up, their independence. And he talks about his body, about encounters with death, about illnesses and addictions - all the temptations to escape from decay, from everyday life.
One comes very close to the great author, but above all to the human being Paul Auster.

In the Café of Lost Youth

In the Café of Lost Youth is a novel by Nobel Prize winner for literature Patrick Modiano in which café-goers as well as a detective and an abandoned husband wonder about a young woman whose life traces remain mostly vague. She has two names (Louki/Jacqueline) and we are told that she ends her own life by throwing herself off a balcony in the presence of another woman. The weightlessness that Louki longed for is felt by the reader when reading the beautiful prose, which sometimes "somehow floats" itself.
